Monson Family Reunion 2007

We went to the annual Family Reunion for my Mom's side of the family. It was a 4 day, 3 day vacate in Walla Walla at a campground with Cabins. The theme was Lewis and Clark, and they had all kinds of activities: “Fear Factor” and since this is the Lewis and Clark family reunion, they had them eat cooked nasty stuff that Lewis and Clark ate. Slimy body parts of animals. Angela and a lot of others participated, but I didn’t, thank goodness, it was gross enough to watch! Puke! Those people were brave though, but no one could have Paid me enough to eat some of the things that they ate! Yuck!, We performed skits about my Grandma and Grandpa's lives, Then we had the Amazing Race. This is Where we did different events, like Lewis and Clark (shooting arrows (Mark shot the bullseye), putting together a teepee, filling up a water bucket with soaked t-shirts, figuring out how wide a river is and how tall a tree is, making a cucumber boat, ‘shooting’ stuffed animals, disciefering an actual code that Lewis and Clark made. We had clues that led us to the next event, each time. Mark has enjoyed picking blackberries with Little Man E, Cousin T, Little Miss R and me. He picked enough for a pie, and made one. He is an excellent pie maker, and he shared some with me and others. We had a dance and I brought my karoake machine. Mom and I sang “Hopelessly Devoted to You” (from Grease). Tom and I sang “You’re the One that I want” (from Grease), and Mom, Angela, Celestia and I sang “In my Daughter’s Eyes” (by Martina Mcbride). It was so fun. My Grandma knows how much I love photography, so she asked me to take pictures of the individual families at the reunion, so she can frame them on her wall. So this took up a good portion of my time, because there are A LOT of families! Then we put our charm necklaces together. Each family brought charms for everyone, to put on a necklace, that represents something about their family. We brought 100 different colored flower beads, because we enjoy being in nature and doing things outside together. Mom made a bead that had sparkly blue on the outside for rain/stars, yellow in the middle for the sunshine, and an evergreen tree in the middle. Angela brought dolphins, because she fulfilled a dream this year and swam with dolphins, Celestia brought white star beads, because the Turkish and American flags have a white star on them. There were a lot of other beads from other family members, that were beautiful, fun and charming, that made our charm necklaces, very neat and a special treat to remember this reunion by. We had a testimony of hymns meeting, and a lot of people shared their favorite hymns, and why they meant so much to them. Our Cheney Family sang “Our Savior’s Love” and all of the Monsons sang a lot of other songs, including some of my favorites, “I know that my Redeemer Lives”, “Love one Another”, “I am a Child of God”, etc. It was a wonderful meeting, and neat to hear why certain hymns were special to our family. This reunion was a blast, I had a great time with my extended and immediate families and having tons of fun.
